Pairing as part of a job interview

A small company gets candidates to "pair" during their job interview process in order to test their ability to do things the XP way (more details here).

I don't know how effective such a short test would be in identifying Agile individuals, but it doesn't sound any more arbitrary than other things I've done in job interviews (brain teasers, code a small project, whiteboarding software architectures, etc) :)

An interesting quote from the interview that rings very true:

Sheridan: The traditional interviewing process is two people pleasantly lying to one another for an hour or two and then making a really big decision that they will live with for years to come. Harkening back to Thomas Edison's interview process: Try as hard as you can to simulate the work environment in the interview process.
